The Punjab government has decided in principle to outsource rural health centres across the province.




Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting in Lahore on Thursday and got briefing regarding health sector. In this regard, the meeting also took important decisions for reforms in health sector.  

The meeting was briefed that the proportion of patients in health centers managed by young doctors has increased by three times. 

Revamping of 225 RHCs have completed and converted into new magnificent clinics.

Health centers will be made an initial referral center for patients.

Health centers will be provided with medical and diagnostic facilities on par with big hospitals.

General surgery, gynecology, diagnostics, medical tests and other facilities will also be available.

New clinics will remain open 24 hours a day after outsourcing of RHCs.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed construction and expansion of connection roads of Sambli General Hospital in Murree.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered to make OPD functional in Nawaz Sharif Institute of Sargodha by June.

CM Maryam also instructed to activate Jinnah Hospital PIC-II by September 30. 

The Chief Minister further ordered to activate Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital within the stipulated period.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered early completion of nomination of Board of Governors and other matters.

Proposal to establish medical city at divisional level for treatment of every disease was also reviewed.

The meeting agreed on establishment of burn unit, cardiac center and children’s ward at every district level.

Proposal to establish mega medical city around Lahore Ring Road was also considered.

The meeting was also briefed that out of 1147 health centers in Punjab, 766 have been revamped, 396 have been handed over to the health department. 

Free medicines worth more than Rs6.7 billion have been provided in OPDs across Punjab. 

As many as 12671 applications have been received for Maryam Nawaz Community Health Inspector Program.

Household surveys, data, diseases and other details will be collected under Maryam Nawaz Community Health Inspector Program.

About 2230 applications have been received on Health Manager Portal under Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic Program.

Five renal and one liver transplants were successfully completed under Chief Minister Special Initiative Transplant Program.

Not less than 6900 patients registered under Chief Minister Children's Heart Surgery Program while 2625 have benefited.

More than 8,000 patients completed dialysis under Chief Minister Dialysis Program while 7630 more patients were registered.

As many as 7.2 million patients have benefited from Clinic on Wheel across Punjab.

The Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the target is to bring 100 percent improvement in government hospitals of Punjab. 

Lack of proper cleanliness in hospitals is a very sad and painful matter, Maryam Nawaz said.

Maryam Nawaz said that people of backward and remote areas also need the latest medical facilities. 

All hospitals in Punjab are being provided with latest medical equipment in a phased manner as per the requirement, Maryam Nawaz said.

The Chief Minister said that sustainable steps are being taken to overcome the problem of shortage of doctors and staff.
